About us

Over 20 years ago, Rebecca launched her publishing career with experience as a writer, professional book reviewer, agented author, and senior editor.

Five years ago, Rebecca created Village Lane Publishing, an independent publishing company operating on three continents, with several #1 best-selling titles and award-winning books. Her business idea was to help authors publish their books, receive an advance and royalties, and retain the rights to their books. It was a novel concept (see what we did there?) that took off immediately.

What is a Certified Publishing Consultant?

As a Certified Publishing Consultant, you will be trained and certified to help authors navigate every step of the self-publishing process. This includes:

  • Advising authors on what steps they should follow during writing and editing to make sure their book is ready for readers to love.

  • Helping authors understand their options for printing and distribution.

  • Guiding authors through formatting their manuscript and getting a great book cover.

  • Helping authors get upload their for printing and distribution.

  • Advising authors on book marketing options.

What Skills Will You Need?

Do you love books and working with people? Are you a natural teacher? If so, you may be a perfect fit for the Certified Publishing Consultant program.

There are some additional specific skills you’ll need to be successful in our program and as a Certified Publishing Consultant.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Detail oriented

  • Comfortable with basic technology including Word, Canva, social media, and Zoom

  • An eye for graphic design

  • Enjoy networking and connecting with others in the industry to partner, ask questions, and collaborate

  • Able to help others remain calm in potentially stressful or overwhelming situations

  • Experience in the publishing industry is a plus!
